We will be prepared to set off for our journey after a pleasant sleep, traveling over fascinating coastal roads while gazing at a landscape of the islands bordering Shikoku Bay. After the trip, we’ll unwind with some traditional Japanese food at the Kurashiki Ivy Square, where we’ll be staying at the lotel.
Day 3: Kurashiki → Hiroshima
This will be a day that is literally “on the sea,” with two glamorous ferry rides between the islands in the harbor interspersed with many breathtaking sight-seeing excursions to some of the area’s most famous landmarks. On Miyajima Island’s fabled Itsukushima Shrine, known for its imposing torii gate across the water, will be our first stop. You will unwind in an opulent hotel in Hiroshima after taking one more ferry over the water. Here, you can unwind while taking in the mysterious ambiance that permeates the entire city.
Day 4: Hiroshima → Matsuyama
The day will begin with a ride via stunning seaview bridges and the “isles labyrinth” of Shikoku Bay. Matsuyama Castle will be the main attraction of the day. It is one of the most intricate and beautiful castle complexes in the nation, with more than 200 cherry trees. The day will come to a close in Kochi, a port city where you may savor some of the tastiest seafood you’ve ever had.
Day 6: Kochi → Takamatsu
The Kazurabashi Bridge, the largest and most well-known mountain vines bridge on the Katsura river, was built for the first time by Kobo Daishi, the founder of the Buddhist Shingon Sect. It presents a fresh obstacle, but this time you will be entirely on your feet. Then, we’ll go to the Kotohira Shrine, a well-known Shinto pilgrimage site and protector of seafarers and ship transit. We will spend the evening taking in Honshu Island’s sea scenery from our Takamatsu hotel.
